The production and use of radioactive products for industry, medicine and research generates radioactive residues. Eventually, the products will reach the end of their life cycle and both the residues and the products must be disposed of properly and in accordance with regulations. Who takes on this challenging task?
 
This is where Eckert & Ziegler Umweltdienste GmbH, a subsidiary of the Eckert & Ziegler Group, comes in. Aware of its great responsibility, the company accepts used radiation sources from its own production worldwide, as well as other materials from all over Germany that are generated as waste when handling radioactive substances, for example in laboratories, production facilities and industrial plants. Where possible, these are recycled and returned to the economic cycle. If this is not possible, they are processed for proper disposal. As a service provider for the conditioning of radioactive waste, we have decades of extensive and widely recognised expertise.

Your contribution to success

  • On-site contact person for warehouse maintenance, service providers, and internal and external partners
  • Organization, sorting, and staging of drum containers
  • Maintenance and monitoring of inventory data in the interim storage facility (quantities, inventory, storage locations, database maintenance)
  • Coordination and operational responsibility for the receipt and shipment of drum containers
  • Preparation for the shipment of drum containers to external disposal/conditioning partners and transportation service providers, including scheduling and transportation preparation (GGVSEB/ADR)
  • Preparation and review of transport documentation
  • Participation in audits and inspections
  • Reporting of nonconformities and incidents in accordance with internal guidelines
  • Maintenance of supporting documentation
  • Serving as a radiation safety officer (m/f/d) with the appropriate qualification or a willingness to obtain the qualification

This qualifies you

  • Completed technical, logistical, or business training
  • Class B driver's license
  • Experience in logistics, warehouse management, waste disposal, or a comparable field
  • A structured, independent, and responsible work style
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Ideally, knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (ADR/GGVSEB) and/or radiation protection
